Mid-Year Update
Dear Riverbend Homeowners:
We hope that you are all enjoying the summer. Below is some current information about your community that you may be interested in reading about:

Road Update
As discussed at our September 17, 2002 Special meeting, and again at our November 12, 2002 Annual meeting our repaving and drainage correction project will begin this year. The Board and management, together with the association’s Professional Engineer, have been busy interviewing contractors for this project. At the May 20th Board meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Hillcrest Paving for this project. The entire community is currently scheduled to be repaved over a 4-year period starting around September of this year. This project may be accelerated depending on the cost of snow services during this period as well as the number of waterline repairs needing to be done.
The order in which the courts will be addressed was determined by the Engineer based on the condition of the roads. The first three courts to be addressed will be on the even side of the community, starting with the court nearest to Hidden lake Drive. More information will be sent to the homeowners that will be affected by the repairing this year in August once the start date has been confirmed.
New Board Member Appointed
Congratulations to Ken Bierstein for being appointed to complete the term of Juanita Wright who recently resigned her Board position. The Board wants to thank Juanita for the time she served on the Board. In May Celestine Grimes was appointed to replace Carolyn Carnavan, who sold her home and moved. Thank you to Ken and Celestine for volunteering their time to serve as Board members for the benefit of the community as a whole.
A New Look To The Mailbox Housing
Recently you may have noticed that one mailbox was selected as the “sample” for refurbishment. The reason that the look was changed was primarily because the boxes are in need of maintenance. It was determined that the “new look” to this box would put an end to ongoing maintenance. The other 12 mailboxes will be redone to match the one that has already been completed. Due to the prolonged spring rains, the contractor is delayed with other projects. However, he will get to our community by the end of the season.
Satellite Dishes
If the Board has granted approval for satellite dish installation in writing, no external cables/wires should be visible from the exterior of your homes. These cables must either be fed through the siding into the interior of your homes, or be hidden in a conduit or a drainpipe. This is to preserve the aesthetics and property values of all our homes.
Radon Remediation
All visible exterior radon removal pipes (usually white PVC) must be painted or sprayed to match the color of the siding of the home. White pipes are not permitted.
Home Maintenance
Several homeowners received letters from the Board of Trustees earlier this year about maintenance that needs to be done to their homes. As the community ages, the need for timely ongoing maintenance becomes more important. Please do not wait for the end of the season to contract for this work to be done if you received a letter. It is each owner’s responsibility to ensure that his or her home is maintained appropriately.
Dogs and Cats
Since the fire lanes were painted in the courts, illegal parking has improved. The Township has issued several tickets to vehicles belonging to residents for parking over the yellow lines. In addition a few vehicles with expired registration and inspection stickers have been towed by the North Brunswick police.

Landscape Plantings
Landscape plantings will be done towards the fall. Unfortunately due to the wet Spring, and then hot weather that followed, the plantings could not be considered for the Spring. If you have a dead shrub that needs replacement, or would like to be considered for additional planting, you may put your request in writing to management. Please be advised that we do not remove healthy plants/trees, and your request is subject to our budget allowances.
Board Meeetings
As a reminder our Board meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday every other month. The next meeting is scheduled for September 16, 2003, at 6:30 P.M. in the management office.
