Walking Around
My wife and I were walking aroud the neighborhood this evening, right around nightfall, a little later than usual for us.
There are quite a few sidewalk lights that are out again. They don’t look vandalized, just dark. The playground equipment is holding up better than I would have thought. No graffiti, no vandalism. The mulch is looking a little tired but it’s still contained. Very cool! We though aloud that there could be another bench or two. In the grass adjacent to the equipment I couldn’t help but notice many round spots where the grass had yellowed. Yes, I know what the spots are: dog urine! I have them in front of my home as well and it’s really begun to aggravate me. It’s simple – urine kills grass. If you’re a dog owner, please have the decency to train your animal to pee in the street where it won’t degrade the appearance of our homes.
July State of the Site
Frankly, I’m a little disappointed.
It’s not that anything’s wrong. The logs still show plenty of hits. No spammy stuff to speak of (which makes my job quite easy, thank you very much). No complaints. No questions. No outages.
So what’s disappointing? Well, nobody’s got anything to say! Even though new registrations continue to trickle in the silence is still deafening. (Remember, if you’re a resident that’s merely registered, you can do more with Resident-level permissions!) Even the Board has stopped issuing missives, newsletters… heck, they’ve pretty much stopped saying anything at all.
Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe I ought to just count my blessings. Maybe.
Alrighty, then. I feel better now that I’ve gotten that off my chest.
Independence Day
Independence Day is nearly here. On July 4, 1776 the United States of America adopted the Declaration of Independence, which separated us from the Kingdom of Great Britain. (If you’re not familiar with the document then please give it a read.)
Many things don’t look particularly good today. We’re in an economic slump. There are record prices for… well, everything. It’s an election year – one of the bleakest I can recall. But let’s not lose sight of the simple fact that the United States of America remains the greatest land on Earth. Yes, it really is as simple as that! Doubt it? Just look at how many long for what we have.
Everyone, please celebrate responsibly and have a safe and happy holiday.
