July State of the Site
Frankly, I’m a little disappointed.
It’s not that anything’s wrong. The logs still show plenty of hits. No spammy stuff to speak of (which makes my job quite easy, thank you very much). No complaints. No questions. No outages.
So what’s disappointing? Well, nobody’s got anything to say! Even though new registrations continue to trickle in the silence is still deafening. (Remember, if you’re a resident that’s merely registered, you can do more with Resident-level permissions!) Even the Board has stopped issuing missives, newsletters… heck, they’ve pretty much stopped saying anything at all.
Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe I ought to just count my blessings. Maybe.
Alrighty, then. I feel better now that I’ve gotten that off my chest.
Independence Day
Independence Day is nearly here. On July 4, 1776 the United States of America adopted the Declaration of Independence, which separated us from the Kingdom of Great Britain. (If you’re not familiar with the document then please give it a read.)
Many things don’t look particularly good today. We’re in an economic slump. There are record prices for… well, everything. It’s an election year – one of the bleakest I can recall. But let’s not lose sight of the simple fact that the United States of America remains the greatest land on Earth. Yes, it really is as simple as that! Doubt it? Just look at how many long for what we have.
Everyone, please celebrate responsibly and have a safe and happy holiday.

Hello everyone,
Just registered myself, I have been mostly in the readonly mode. Thanks to the Admin who is taking time to maintain this site. He/She is doing a wonderful job.
Did you know Riverbend is in google StreetView now? It is both amazing and scary at the same time.
I could see my garage open and the trashcan.Check it out in google Street view.
Thank you, cnik. We’ve been in continuous operation since June 2000. If you haven’t already, check out the Site History page, linked from the top of this page.
Y’know, if you’re a Riverbend resident you get a few additional privileges. See here for more information.
Wow, we’re on SreetView! I see one of my cars on the street. By the looks of things I’d guess the imagery is from around May of this year, probably on a weekday. Thanks for the tip!
