August Site News
If you were on the site this morning you may have experienced a bit of instability while I updated our software to the latest version. While I was at it I brought a couple of internal things up to date as well. Everything went as planned, but you never know. Please tell me if you notice anything out of sorts.
Recently we’ve had a larger-than-usual number of new user registrations. It prompted me to have a look at the user list. Honestly, when I consider that this site is designed to serve a local community, some of the out-of-country registrations give me pause. There haven’t been any (visible) problems, but I should mention that I have exercised the administrator privilege and deleted a few registrations since we cut over to this software. I don’t like to do that. But in my experience, when someone registers themselves with an address made up of obscenities nothing good can be expected to come from them.
The Board of Trustees remains, well, silent. Their missives and newsletters have pretty much stopped. Used to be we would see a couple of newsletters a year, but no more. [shrug] Board members, remember, you’re welcome to use this venue to reach the community, just like any other Resident!
I was walking around the community the other day enjoying the excellent weather. Have you ever taken notice of the cement work on the north side of the west end of Riverbend drive, where the regular sidewalk gives way to brick? I can remember, many years ago (long before I moved here I lived nearby), when water flowed down towards the street under that little wooden bridge. A decorative feature, it complemented the outstanding landscaping and really looked cool. I wonder what it would take to get that operational again. I’ll bet it hasn’t worked for 15-20 years…
Has anyone got any pictures of that? Or, for that matter, any other materials from when the community was new? I’d love to see it, and I’ll bet others would, too.
