Roles

Here are the Roles that are permitted on the site.

  • No Role The ordinary Web surfer who stumbles onto the site has no real role. They may read nearly anything but may not comment or otherwise contribute until they register a login. Registration is not restricted, and anyone who succesfully registers is granted the role of Subscriber.
  • Subscriber Anyone with interest may register and become a Subscriber. A logged in Subscriber is permitted to comment on articles and posts. Comments are generally published immediately, but under some circumstances will be held for moderation. Comments judged to be spam may be deleted without being seen or may be removed from the site at any time without notice.
  • Resident Those who live in our community may establish themselves in a Resident role. A Resident is allowed to freely write new articles, make comments on existing articles, and add events to the calendar. All new content is published immediately.

In addition, Subscriber and Resident roles (anyone with a username/password) may access a content management Dashboard and may maintain his or her Profile.

Please write responsibly! See the Conduct page for more information.

How do I establish a Resident role?

Simply ask for it. You only need to verify that you are a Riverbend community Resident.

In March 2008 a letter was sent to each Riverbend address. A unique codeword was included with each letter. Send an email message to riverbend@timeoff.org with your desired username, your house number, and the codeword from your letter. If the house number matches the codeword on file then the account will be created and a reply to your email request will contain your initial password. In the event that your codeword is incorrect, no further action will be taken and no reply to your email will be generated. Please allow 24-48 hours for processing (but it is likely to be much faster).

If you no longer have the codeword from the letter, you may send an email message to riverbend@timeoff.org including your house number. A new codeword will be mailed to your house. Use the codeword you receive to request your Resident role as described above.

Yes, it seems like a lot of trouble, but in order to provide the best service to Residents these steps are necessary.

Your email address will be used ONLY for these purposes: to authenticate you as a Riverbend Resident as described above; to periodically provide site-related messages when it is necessary to communicate privately and directly. Your email address and/or house number will NEVER be sold or given away or otherwise revealed for any purpose, other than to comply with a court order as required by law.

Can one house number have multiple Resident logins?

Yes, absolutely. Anyone living in the community may request a Resident login. Each Resident login must be associated with a unique email addess, however.
